Pros and Cons of Working From Home

By: Catherine Willis

Many people are currently working from home, especially where I live, in Atlanta, GA, due to many reasons. Although working from home can be a true blessing, there are definitely drawbacks and things to consider before deciding whether working from home is for you or not.

You can choose to either have your own home based business or to work for somebody else from home (telecommuting). The option is yours, but make sure you don't overload yourself with work. You can really be very productive if you get organized, but be careful not to get overwhelmed.

It has been my experience that working from home allows me to stop spending money in a lot of areas that are already expensive nowadays, like gas. This is one of the great benefits of working from home.

Go through these bullet points and find out if working from home is for you:

* You must be organized and self-motivated. You will not have anyone monitoring.

* Working from home affords us certain liberties we can't get as clock-punchers in the corporate world.

* Working from home as a full timer or part timer, you can do achieve a significant income if you find the right business for you and the right tools.

* No matter if you are working for yourself or for somebody else, keep your children away from your office! Noone likes to listen to the background noise, and plus, it sounds very unprofessional.

Make sure you are the one answering the phones and not your 5-year-old child. Keep it professional.
