There are many different kinds of skin conditions, each with its own treatment requirements. The more common forms include eczema (atopic dermatitis), psoriasis, folliculitis and, of course, breakouts. These diseases can leave you with a wide range of symptoms, some more troublesome than others and can show up as an itchy condition, pigmentation disorders, extremely dry skin conditions, sores and other undesirable appearances. Getting help for most skin conditions requires a trip to the dermatologist and, in some cases, more advanced care. Most commonly experienced conditions include: Effects of the Sun - Without a doubt the skin's biggest enemy, the sun can have an enormous impact on all facets of the derma from wrinkles to age spots to problems with the supportive elements that support and nourish. Skin conditions resulting from sun damage may take advanced procedures such as laser peels, chemical peels and photorejuvenation. Rashes - The word rash is a broad term for a whole host of conditions. Most infections and bacteria that cause skin problems also cause irritation. These usually show up in the form of skin rashes. Though every case is different, these can be telling you that chronic skin conditions may have developed. Skin rashes can be the result of contact with plants, allergens, chemicals, pollutants, toxins and climate. Sun Spots - These skin discolorations (also known as solar lentigines) are the trademark of too much sun. As a result they are also one of the skin conditions that can contribute to an aged appearance. Simple things can be done to keep them from showing up from using an alpha hydroxy acid based product as well as more advanced procedures such as fraxel laser procedures. Skin Infections - Bacteria, viruses and other pollutants can infiltrate the skin and cause small to very complicated infections. Once they have taken hold, they should be subjected to prescription medication and the assistance of your dermatologist. It should be your goal to learn how to prevent the skin diseases and conditions that can lead to infection. Keeping open sores and other raw skin conditions covered and free from bacteria is the first step in dealing with these types of issues. Skin Diseases - Many skin conditions arise from disease. These diseases can leave lasting marks and may demand complex treatments to repair. A rare skin condition can also require a hospital stay and worse depending on the disease.Catching these early and treating them with prescription medications (both topical and oral) can go a long way in shortening the lifespan of each disease. Skin Cancer - Cancers are perhaps the most serious of all the common skin conditions. These can appear as invasive and aggressive forms such as melanoma or less aggressive but still concerning forms such as basal and squamous cell carcinomas. If discovered quickly enough and treated aggressively, most forms of skin cancer are curable with melanoma being the one that needs to be caught the earliest to be treated effectively. This is by no means an exhaustive collection of skin conditions. Talking with dermatologist is definitely recommended if you think that rashes or other breakouts may be the signs of a more threatening condition. Many skin problems can be treated sufficiently by the wide array prescription medications you can find.
